The Fork in the Road?

There is a fork in the road. Which way will you go?

This sculpture’s plaque proclaims that this is the “World’s Largest Fork”. Located in Springfield, Missouri, the 35-foot tall fork is planted right in front of a three story building that belongs to Noble & Associates, a well known advertising agency that has a lot of restaurant and food clients.

'tis the holidays, so more ornaments

The following is from Kelli's Etsy Shop Profile: Red Marionette was developed in 2008 by a crafty redhead with an overactive imagination. Believing that everyone should have a doppelganger in felt she frantically doodled her way into madness.

From these doodles, obnoxiously cute creatures were born. These creatures took the form of ornaments, wreaths, wall art, party favors, Holiday decor and much more.

As they are carefully hand stitched, Lola, Pete, Fortinbras and countless others quickly developed their own eccentric tastes and characteristics. Some like cupcakes or have a thing for camping. Just like snowflakes, children and stars in the sky, no two are alike.

Her creations become full of life in ways that felt and thread would have never achieved without her imagination.

Find sneak peeks, updates and general kookiness...

Be sure to check out Red Marionette for unique handmade felted ornaments, stockings, garland and much more.  They are great for gifts for you or someone else.

Thank you to all veterans!!!

From Wikipedia: Veterans Day is an annual American holiday honoring military veterans. Both a federal holiday and a state holiday in all states, it is usually observed on November 11. However, if it occurs on a Sunday then the following Monday is designated for holiday leave, and if it occurs Saturday then either Saturday or Friday may be so designated.[1] It is also celebrated as Armistice Day or Remembrance Day in other parts of the world, falling on November 11, the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. (Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice.)

Christmas Ornaments from Copperista!!

Amy Volchok who is known for her beautiful sterling silver four sided custom cuffs and many other things, in aquabeet shop, has another store, Cooperista.  In her own words, "Copperista is the place for framed mirrors, desk picture frames; wall picture frames, handmade ornaments and decorative buttons all made of copper. Here you will also find personalized ornaments and copper jewelry. Each and every piece that you see in this shop has been designed and constructed by me.

I start with sheet copper that is cut, sanded, given a patina and lots of other surprises. I learned to cut glass/mirrors to make these and that's not as easy as it looks!

If you see something here that strikes your fancy, and would like it a little tweaked, different shape, size, etc. shoot me a convo and we can chat. If you'd like a date, initials, message on one of these, I can do it. Customization is my speciality in my other shop, so I can certainly try to accomodate.

All of the copper pieces that you see here at Copperista are designed, constructed and finished by me. They are all original designs that came with a lot of experimenting.

Copper is the most wonderful metal - it takes on the most luminous random colors when heated. It's the randomness that attracted me in the beginning, now it's just plain magic!!

I have been an artist all of my life. I don't remember a time when I wasn't. I pretty much always have a plan for making several things in my head at once. For years I worked as a graphic designer, setting type, designing logos and such. I used to make and sell papier-mache pieces & handmade greeting cards before I started with metals.

With Christmas just around the corner, I want to show you her vast array of ornaments that can also be used for gift tags, home decor and many other things.  I use mine as ornaments at Christmas time and as home decor year round.  Purchase them for yourself or someone else.  Remember, most are customized, so you get to say what you want!!

Well, I didn't come back, but I PROMISE that I will next week. I actually got sick this past week. In the mean time, do you remember the Pepsi vs. Coke wars? Here is a reminder:

"I Was There"

I was able to do some research on the poem, "Meet Me In The Stairwell."

This information was taken from I Was There website.

The poem "Met in the Stairwell" written by Stacey Randall following September 11, 2001. Written from the perspective of God, where God was, and what God was doing during the tragic moments of September 11, 2001.

The original poem was placed on the family web site, then circulated throughout the world via emails. The poem is on thousands of other web sites (current estimate is 8000+ websites).

On November 30, 2001, Bob Holiday, Production Manager for KFSH Los Angeles, read the poem over Mannheim Steamroller's Silent Night. Bob's version found its way to hundreds of radio stations throughout the world and is currently available as an MP3 download on many web sites.

After securing a publishing deal, Stacey was encouraged to find a composer to write more appropriate music. She turned down requests from many well known and established artists.

In June 2002, Stacey chose Justin Copeland to compose the original music, who in turn contacted Steve Sneed to produce the song. Of course, Bob's voice was kept. He has become known as the "voice" of God.

Song re-titled as "I Was There" and released to radio stations in mid August, 2002.

'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'
("I WAS THERE")

You say you will never forget where you were when
you heard the news
On September 11, 2001.
Neither will I.
I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room
with a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.'
I held his fingers steady as he dialed.
I gave him the peace to say, Honey, I am not going to make it,
but it is OK...I am ready to go.

'I was with his wife when he called
as she fed breakfast to their children.
I held her up as she tried to understand his words
andas she realized he wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a
woman cried out to Me for help.
'I have been knocking on the door
of your heart for 50 years!' I said.
'Of course I will show you the way home - only
believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest
ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He
heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat,
with every prayer. I was with the crew as they
were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the
believers there, comforting and assuring them that their
faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan.
I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew
every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me
for the first time on the 86th floor.
Some sought Me with their last breath.

Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... this way... take
my hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day.
You may not know why, but I do. However, if you were;
there in that explosive moment in time,
would you have reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey for you.
But someday your journey will end.
And Iwill be there for you as well.

Seek Me now while I maybe found.
Then, at any moment, you know you are'ready to go.'

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments.

~God~
